Globalization

Problems
1. Countries and people are losing their culture (some have lost it nearly completely).
2.  Developing countries are being taken advantage of (polluting corporations take advantage of the weak developing countries).
3. Poverty is increasing – developed countries affecting developing countries.

Questions
1. What type of culture is globalization seriously affecting and how is it getting affected.
2. How do the big companies really affect the small companies because of globalization.
3. What is creating globalization and how has it caused this.

Definition: Globalization is the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas, and other aspects of culture. Globalization describes the interplay across cultures of macro-social forces. These forces include religion, politics, and economics. Globalization can erode and universalize the characteristics of a local group. Advances in transportation and telecommunications infrastructure, including the rise of the Internet, are major factors in globalization, generating further interdependence of economic and cultural activities.

Answers
1.     Globalization affects culture because when people of different cultures and from different places come together and share what they have, they get to know each other. They bring back what they have learned and it enters into society and culture. For example: if a female student from a society that does not let women do much comes to New Zealand as an exchange student, she might learn about how our society works. Then she may might go back home and decide to start working for women's rights. In the long run her visit could effect her entire culture.
2.     Large small companies are getting affected because of globalization. This is because globalization means that companies get worldwide and rule over every small country. Without globalization, there wouldn’t be ruling companies that create globalization because they won’t be world-wide and dominating.
3.     One way that Globalisation is increasing is because of increasing technology. This is because transport is getting easier and faster. Planes these days can fly us all over the world and therefore more travelling to different countries is easy. Also electric communication technology (phones and the internet) is creating this. This is because communicating is getting really easy and now people can communicate through countries and places really easily. Finally, another reason for globalization are big companies. If we take McDonalds as an example, this company is basically the top selling fast food restaurant in the whole world.
